Jitters and Bliss

It all started in 1998 when the “gourmet coffee experience” was beginning to take off in our community. As franchise owners of a TCBY Treats, we introduced gourmet coffee into the shop. It was a natural -- coffee and ice cream. Feeling a trend and seeking a new niche, we closed TCBY and reopened as Jitters and Bliss in March of 2001. We still sold ice cream, but it was great coffee that brought in the community. We were selling an experience -- an upscale coffee shop offering four daily brews, espresso based hot and cold concoctions, replete with contemporary music and art in a softly lit environment. Add to this the aroma of muffins and pastries just pulled out of our front oven and intersperse it with the whistling of the espresso machine and you get an idea of the ambience that we wanted to achieve. It is this kind of experience that we are promoting today with every sip of our magnificent coffees.
